What is the cost of participation in the show?  The standard participation fee is $20 each student. The participation fee is paid for each performance that your child is registered to participate in,  is non-refundable and due at registration. Please view the event information page to learn more.

Why is there a participation fee? The participation fee makes our performances possible for your student. It helps cover some of the cost of renting the performance location and backstage area, along with sound and lighting, custodial costs, and others.

What if I can’t afford the participation fee? Thanks to the generosity of our donors and partners, Any applicant may apply for need-based financial aid to cover the participation fee.  Soleil Music and Arts aims to ensure that financial hardship will never be a barrier between a young artist and the experiences that will shape their future. Parents/guardians are encouraged to fill out the financial aid application while registering for the performance.

Is there an audition? No, we encourage the participation of ALL skill levels!


Is there a rehearsal? No, we encourage all of our performers to rehearse their performance regularly before the day of the show. Students will need to arrive about 20 minutes early to warm-up and get comfortable at the venue.


Can my child dance, play or sing more than one performance/song? Yes, please list the number of performance/songs on the event sign-up form.


Does my child need to memorize their music? No, they are welcome to bring their sheet music or music books.


How many performances can my child participate in per year?  We encourage our performers to participate in as many of our shows as they are comfortable with.


Is this a music school? No, Soleil Music & Arts (SMAA) is a music and arts organization focused on providing performance opportunities to youth in and around the Houston area. Special opportunities for group performances and educational workshops or classes may arise from time to time with SMAA or our educational partners and sponsors.


Do you offer group or private lessons? No, however, special opportunities for group performances and educational workshops or classes may arise from time to time with SMAA or our educational partners and sponsors. Please see our resources page. or contact us, 


Does my child need to play an instrument to participate? No, we welcome vocal, dance and acting performers as well as instrumental. We also display artwork!


What makes Soliel Music & Arts different from other performance & talent shows? Our shows are focused on being skill-Inclusive, frequent, non-competitive, and youth focused!

**Research shows that efficient and effective learning occurs with increased frequency of teaching and rehearsing! If your child is singing in a choir, acting in a theater group, taking music or dance lessons, or learning on their own, or in school bands or orchestras, participating in our shows can help them along in their music journey!
